Wichniarek joins on two-year deal

Artur Wichniarek has joined Hertha Berlin from Arminia Bielefeld on a two-year contract. The Polish striker played for Hertha between 2003 and 2006 but was unable to make much of an impact. He has enjoyed much more success with Arminia over the past three years, although he could not help them avoid relegation from the Bundesliga last term. Wichniarek has now returned to the German capital for a second spell, with Hertha reportedly paying a €1million (£850,000) transfer fee. The 32-year-old, who has been capped 17 times by his country, is determined to show Hertha they were right to bring him in. "I want to take advantage of this second chance and make up for what I didn't do before," Wichniarek told Bild.
