Werder Bremen have expressed an interest in re-signing Tim Borowski from Bayern Munich.
Borowski quit Bremen 12 months ago to join Bayern on a free transfer and he agreed a three-year contract at the Allianz Arena.
The midfielder featured regularly for Bayern last season, but has been tipped to be among the casualties of new coach Louis van Gaal this summer.
He has been linked with a move back to Bremen and general manager Klaus Allofs has confirmed the club would be keen to see the 29-year-old return.
"This could be a nice thing, although things have to fit financially," Allofs told Kresizeitung Syke.
"We really felt sorry to lose Tim Borowski a year ago. This definitely shows how much we rate Tim.
"And we are not going to change our point of view just because he went through something of a tough time at Bayern last season."
