Hertha Berlin's bid to win the Bundesliga has been dealt a blow with the news Arne Friedrich will miss most of the rest of the season.
The 29-year-old Germany international underwent an operation on his left knee on Wednesday and is expected to be out for between four and six weeks.
Hertha's games against Schalke and Karlsruhe on 16th and 23rd May have been pencilled in as possible return dates.
This will depend on how well Friedrich responds to his rehabilitation work ahead of the business end of the campaign.
The capital club surrendered top spot to Wolfsburg at the weekend as they lost to Borussia Dortmund, but are still in with a fair chance of winning the German title.
