Ivorian defender keen to secure English switch

Steve Gohouri is still hoping to secure a move to England in an effort to further his career. The Borussia Monchengladbach defender was strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League during the January transfer window. A number of clubs were reported to have shown an interest in his services, but no official approaches were forthcoming. However, the Ivorian is able to buy out his contract in Germany for less than 750,000 euros (£672,000) and admits he would be willing to do so at the end of the season were he to receive a suitable offer. "I have always wanted to realise a dream of playing in England. It is my destiny," Gohouri told skysports.com. "I want to play in England because I feel that I have proven myself in Germany.

Realistic

"However, I love the Borussia fans too much to walk away now and I will give 100 per cent to ensure that we stay in the Bundesliga. "At the end of the season I will then sit down and decide with the club and my agent what happens next. "I have always said that it would be a dream to play in the Premier League, but sometimes dreams do not happen. I would therefore stay in Monchengladbach and it would not be a problem." Gohouri's agent is also keen to secure his client a summer switch to England, but admits that there are likely to be offers from across Europe. "Steve is a great athlete, he has good pace and is hard to play against. I think he would be at home in the Premier League," said Rui Pedro. "However, he could stay in Germany or talk to one of the many other contacts we have in Europe."
