Veteran Borussia Monchengladbach striker Oliver Neuville has signed a one-year contract extension.
The 35-year-old Germany international put pen to paper on a new deal through to 2010 on Thursday, thus ending speculation about his future after failing to hold down a regular first team berth with the Foals this season.
Neuville has seen his progress hindered by injury this term and is yet to feature in Hans Meyer's plans since picking up a thigh injury in November.
However, he remains an integral part of the club's vision for the future and sporting director Max Eberl is delighted an agreement has been reached.
"Oliver is an experienced player and has every chance with us," he said.
"We want to make use of his ability and experience for some time to come."
Battle
Neuville, who had recently been linked with a move to German second division outfit Duisburg, also expressed his delight at the deal.
"We have a young squad with lots of talented but inexperienced players, they need help on and off the pitch," he said.
"I think I can be of help to the team and bring my experience to other areas as well.
"We have talked about the role I will be playing at Borussia and I am aware that I have no more right to a first-team place than any other player.
"But, I am ready for the battle and I feel I will be first choice as soon as I am back to full fitness.
"I can well imagine spending the rest of my career here at Gladbach."
