Werder Bremen duo Claudio Pizarro and Diego have received hefty suspensions following Saturday's defeat at lowly Karlsruhe.
Pizarro, on loan at Bremen from Chelsea, was sent off in the last minute of the 1-0 loss after striking out at Karlsruhe defender.
He has been banned for three Bundesliga matches, meaning he will miss the clashes with Wolfsburg, Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Diego was not dismissed against Karlsruhe but has received a four-match suspension from the DFB Disciplinary Committee after TV pictures caught him putting both hands around the neck of Christian Eichner.
The news is a further blow to Bremen who have struggled for form all season.
They go into Saturday's final Bundesliga match before the winter break in 10th place in the table.
