Bundesliga outfit bid for Japanese ace

J-League outfit Vissel Kobe have confirmed Wolfsburg have made a bid for Japan international striker Yoshito Okubo. Former Asian Young Player of the Year Okubo has experience of playing in Europe having undertaken a loan spell with Real Mallorca in the 2005/06 Liga campaign. Kobe team executive Masahiro Wada has confirmed the Bundesliga outfit have tabled the offer, something the club will now reluctantly discuss.

Under contract

Wolfsburg are reportedly willing to pay around £14million for the 26-year-old, who still has three years left on his four-year contract. "We received an official letter from them," explained Wada. "We cannot say what will happen in the future, but I have to point out that Okubo has a contract remaining with our team. "I suppose the German club realises that. We will hold discussions in the future."
