Berlin keen to land Brazilian

Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin have confirmed that they will take up their option on Brazilian midfielder Cicero. The 24-year-old has been in impressive form for the capital club this season and general manager Dieter Hoeness now wants to turn his two-year loan deal from Fluminese into a permanent move. Cicero has made 13 appearances this term, scoring four goals, and has helped Hertha to fourth spot in the German top-flight and the group stages of the Uefa Cup. "We will take advantage of our option and buy him," Hoeness told Kicker. "He has fulfilled our expectations earlier than we expected." Cicero's contract gives Hertha the opportunity to sign him for a further four years for a fee believed to be around 4million euros (£3.4m).
