Holland international defender Joris Mathijsen has signed a contract extension with Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.
The 28-year-old stopper put pen to paper on a deal keeping him at the club until 2012.
Mathijsen arrived at Hamburg from AZ Alkmaar in 2006 and has made a total of 75 Bundesliga appearances for the Rothosen.
"I am very glad about the new contract," Mathijsen told the club's official website.
"HSV is a great club and I am proud to be able to play for them. I feel very much at home here in Hamburg and it is my goal to help Hamburg win a title in the future."
HSV sport director Dietmar Beiersdorfer also expressed his delight at the new contract.
"Joris has proven throughout his time here that he can always be relied upon," said Beiersdorfer.
"He has been a positive addition to the club not only from a sporting, but also from a personal point of view."
