Hamburg coach Martin Jol has rewarded veteran goalkeeper Frank Rost with a new 12-month contract.
Rost, 35, will now stay with the Bundesliga leaders until the end of the 2009/10 season.
The German international, who joined Hamburg from Schalke in January 2007, has also been given the opportunity of taking up a non-playing role with the club when he hangs up his gloves.
"He is not only an important player on the pitch, but he also has a lot of influence on our team off it due to his strong personality," sport director Dietmar Beiersdorfer told the club's official website.
Rost said: "Everything is just perfect. I am very happy, not only with the sporting side of things but with the whole environment at the club."
