Striker hopes for English opportunity

Ivory Coast international Boubacar Sanogo has revealed his ambition to play in the Premier League. The African ace is currently on the books of Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen, but has seen first team opportunities hard to come by in Germany. A loan move to French side Le Havre had been touted, but Sanogo insists England holds the biggest appeal for him.

Prolific

"I am not interested in moving somewhere else, no disrespect to the French league," the 25-year-old told skysports.com. "The league which appeals to me, and the one I have always wanted to play in, is the Premier League. "I have the ability required, I have been very prolific in the Bundesliga and now I want the opportunity to score goals past the best keepers in the Premier League."
Settled
Sanogo claims to have had contact from English teams in the past, but believes the time is now right for him to accept a new challenge. "I spoke to teams around the time I was scoring goals for fun at Hamburg," he added. "I was settled in the German league and Werder wanted me to help them challenge for the title. "But now I cannot afford to wait any longer and I want to move to the Premier League."
Confident
The striker is also hoping to help the Ivory Coast book a place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. "We have to win our next game, which is at home, and we will be fine," Sanogo said. "We are confident of qualifying for the World Cup, which would be very important for our country. "It is vital we are in South Africa, no-one should think of themselves as we need to do it for our country."
