German international to leave the Weserstadion

Werder Bremen have confirmed that Germany international defender Patrick Owomoyela is set to join Borussia Dortmund. Recent reports have claimed that Owomoyela has been looking for a fresh start after losing his first-team place at the Weserstadion due to injury. And Bremen, who insist they are not keen to sell, have now agreed to accept an offer from Dortmund for the 28-year-old right-back. "We were not planning to sell Patrick Owomoyela, but after much consideration we have agreed to let him and Borussia Dortmund have their wish," Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs told the club's official website. "Patrick Owomoyela feels that he has a better chance of holding down a first-team place at Borussia Dortmund." Reports suggest that Owomoyela is set to sign a three-year deal and that the fee is around 2.5 million euros (£1.9m).
