Former Germany international Hans-Jorg Butt has joined Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper finalised the free transfer deal to Bayern from Benfica on Wednesday and has been handed a two-year contract at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern have been looking for an experienced shot-stopper to back up new No.1 Michael Rensing following the retirement of Oliver Kahn.
"We are very pleased with this transfer as Hans-Jorg Butt's international experience fits our requirements exactly," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"We want Hans-Jorg Butt to support the development of our young goalkeeper Michael Rensing and he is looking forward to his task at Bayern Munich."
Butt, who played for Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, won three caps for Germany and was part of his country's 2002 World Cup squad.
