Philipp Lahm is expecting to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich after opening talks with general manager Uli Hoeness.
The full-back has one season remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena, but is keen to stay with the Bundesliga leaders.
A long-term deal is understood to be in the pipeline and Lahm appears confident that an agreement can be quickly reached.
"Negotiations with Uli Hoeness got underway this week and I can very well imagine that we'll reach agreement next week," Lahm told the German daily tz.
Lahm joined Bayern from Stuttgart in 2005, but has often been linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester United.
But his willingness to commit his future to Bayern appears likely to put a stop to any speculation regarding a potential summer transfer.
