Schalke midfielder Ivan Rakitic will miss his side's UEFA Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona after suffering an ankle injury in training.
The Croatian has damaged ligaments in his left ankle and he is expected to miss the next four weeks of the season.
That means Rakitic, who was absent for Croatia's recent 1-1 friendly draw with Scotland, will now miss Barcelona's visit on Tuesday and the return trip to the Camp Nou on 9th April.
It was feared highly-rated Rakitic - who is rumoured to be a possible summer target of Liverpool and Chelsea - would miss the remainder of the season with the injury, which he sustained after collapsing in training.
However, it is now expected that the 20-year-old - who has played seven games in the Champions League this season - will return before the climax of the campaign.
