Dortmund climb to ninth with home romp

Borussia Dortmund have surged into ninth place in the Bundesliga following a 6-1 thrashing of Arminia Bielefeld. Tinga opened the scoring in the 14th minute and things went from bad to worse when Dortmund swiftly moved two in front. Markus Schuler put through his own net just five minutes later to leave the visitors with a mountain to climb. Bielefeld needed a good start to the second half, although Mladen Petric's effort effectively ended the match as a contest. The floodgates were firmly open at that stage with Nelson Valdez's penalty ending any hope of an unlikely comeback. Florian Kringe then got in on the act before Giovanni Federico's effort made it 6-0 with 67 minutes gone. Bielefeld did get on the scoresheet when Oliver Birch pulled one back, but it was nothing more than a consolation.
