Kahn and Ribery want coach to stay on

Bayern Munich duo Oliver Kahn and Franck Ribery have spoken out in favour of coach Ottmar Hitzfeld extending his current contract. Hitzfeld returned to Bayern on a short-term deal in February, before agreeing to stay on for this season as well. He has led the club to the top of the Bundesliga and general manager Uli Hoeness has already confirmed talks are planned for the winter break. Hitzfeld has yet to decide whether to sign a new contract, but Bayern captain Kahn thinks the club should do everything in their power to persuade him to stay. "I can hardly imagine a better coach," Kahn told the German press ahead of Bayern's Uefa Cup clash with Bolton. "Him staying would be important and sensational for the club. Continuity is important in order to be able to implement a system medium-term." Ribery, who was brought in by Hitzfeld over the summer, also believes he is the right man to take the club forward. "I would like him to continue," said the Frenchman. "He is very likeable, speaks a lot with the players and I like his training methods."
