Hertha Berlin boss Lucien Favre is set to sign Steve von Bergen from his former club FC Zurich.

The Swiss international defender will sign a three-year deal at the Olympiastadion on Thursday, subject to a medical.

Hertha have taken advantage of a clause in Von Bergen's contract allowing him to leave Zurich for 1.5million euros (£1million).

Zurich striker Raffael is also a target for Hertha but looks unlikely to be joining Von Bergen in the Bundesliga.

The Swiss club's president Ancillo Canepa has angrily rejected Hertha general manager Dieter Hoeness' approach for Raffael.

"I told him that he has a contract until 2011 and that we are not at all interested in selling him," Canepa told Berliner Zeitung.

"I find it extremely strange that FC Zurich seems to be the only team in the whole of Europe that has players that Hertha Berlin are interested in buying. I just can't believe it."

Meanwhile, Hertha have reached an agreement with FC Lucerne for Swiss youngster Fabian Lustenberger.
