Stuttgart midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has extended his current deal with the Bundesliga champions.
The former Aston Villa man has put pen-to-paper on a new two-year contract which will keep him at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion until 2010.
"It hasn't always been easy since my return to the Bundesliga," explained the German international.
"The first year in particular didn't go as either I or the club had hoped. Therefore it was even better winning the title and reaching the cup final last year.
"I really feel at home here in Stuttgart and I think we have a young team with plenty of potential to carry on along the successful path that we are currently on."
Meanwhile, defender Arthur Boka will be out of action for up to four weeks with a knee injury.
A scan confirmed that the 24-year-old has suffered torn ligament damage during training on Monday.
Coach Armin Veh did receive some good news when new signing Yildiray Basturk took part in training after a series of muscular problems and could figure against his former team Hertha Berlin when Stuttgart travel to the German capital on Saturday.
