Messina duo Riccardo Zampagna and Ivica Iliev have been hit with three and four game bans respectively.Italian striker Zampagna has been hit with a four match ban after Italy's governing body ruled on an incident that took place prior to the player's sending off at the weekend against Ascoli.
Zampagna was adjudged to have attempted to strike the referee with his head, although he did not actually make contact.
Messina coach Bortolo Mutti will now have to deal with not only the absence of Zampagna but also Iliev, who was found guilty of simulation when winning a penalty in his side's 1-0 win.
The Sicilian outfit have yet to make any comment on whether they will be appealing the decision or not.
