Struggling Reggina have agreed a deal to sign experienced striker Nicola Amoruso.

The 31-year-old has spent the past few months searching for a new club after leaving Messina at the end of last season.

Training stints in England with Crystal Palace and Derby County failed to provide a contract, while Amoruso had been in talks with Braga.

The Portuguese side eventually backed out of a deal, leaving Reggina to revive the interest they originally expressed at the start of September.

With Rolando Bianchi out for six months due to injury, Reggina have been desperately scouring for a proven goalscorer.

Amoruso fits the bill and he is expected to be officially unveiled by the Serie A club on Wednesday afternoon.

The former Juventus attacker is delighted to have been given the chance by Reggina and hopes to quickly be back in action.

"I'm only missing the rhythm of playing a match," Amoruso told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But the international break will allow me to quickly enter in to the team's game.

"With the coach, we will decide a plan to be at his disposal as soon as possible."
