Serie A round-up

Juventus' grasp on the title remains as tight as ever, while Roma rewrote the record books.

Serie A leaders Juventus' grasp on the title remains as tight as ever after a 3-1 win in Turin against Lecce, while Milan in second were winners at Palermo - but the headlines belong to Roma who broke the Italian record for consecutive victories as they recorded their eleventh straight success.

Champions Juve fell behind to Gennaro Del Vecchio's tenth minute strike but were ahead at the interval courtesy of strikes from Emerson and Robert Kovac.

A penalty from Alessandro Del Piero two minutes from time added gloss to a polished display from the Old Lady.

Late goals from Filippo Inzaghi (72) and Andrei Shevchenko - an 83rd minute penalty - saw Milan win on their trip to Sicily to play Palermo, although the victory was soured somewhat by Jaap Stam's dismissal four minutes from time.

Internazionale were also victorious in beating Udinese 3-1, with Julio Cruz (18 & 47) and Obafemi Martins (60) doing the damage.

A bad tempered affair saw Walter Samuel dismissed for Inter, while Udinese's Cristian Zapata evened up the numbers with just five minutes left.

Roma's historic win came courtesy of their city-rivals Lazio on Sunday evening.

Once Rodrigo Taddei had flicked the ball home there was little doubt about the outcome.

Lazio pushed for an equaliser in the second period - but it was Roma who added another as Alberto Aquilani side-footed home after a great run from Mancini.

An Alfredo Cariello strike in the final minute gave Ascoli a 1-0 over Messina, while Siena beat Sampdoria by the same scoreline thanks to Simone Vergassola's strike ten minutes from time.

Empoli and Treviso also played out a 1-1 stalemate with Christian Rigano the hero as his goal for the former, four minutes into injury time, rescued a point as it levelled Emanuele Filippini's opener.

Cagliari, who had Francesco Bega sent off, needed a Massimo Gobbi goal four minutes into injury time to secure a 2-2 draw with Chievo.

A David Suazo goal gave Cagliari the lead but late goals from Simone Tiribocchi (86) and Sergio Pellisier (90) looked to have stolen Chievo the points, before Gobbi's intervention.
