Parma's bid to retain their Serie A status has been rocked by a double injury blow.

Defeat to Atalanta at the weekend did little to improve deflated morale and now this latest loss has been compounded by injuries to Marco Marchionni and Stefano Bettarini.

Influential midfielder Marchionni was forced off at the weekend and will now need surgery to rectify a problem to his knee.

Pietro Carmignani is more hopeful that Bettarini's muscular complaints are less serious.

Both players will undergo extensive tests in the next few days to ascertain the full extent of their injuries.
