Parma goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has been called into the French squad for the game with Poland due to Fabien Barthez's knee injury.

Mickael Landreau is likely to start in goal for France as Gregory Coupet is also injured, while Frey will take his place on the bench.

Frey admitted that he was surprised by his selection given that he had clashed with French coach Raymond Domenech whilst they were together with the Under-21 squad.

"It is a real surprise - I really didn't expect it," acknowledged Frey.

"I haven't had the opportunity to talk to Raymond Domenech yet.

"It is true that I had a trouble with the coach when I was with the Under-21s - it was just a communication matter.

"I am happy to be called up even if I think I won't play."
