Oliver Kahn has not looked the same imposing figure between the sticks this season and Bayern are reportedly ready to dispense with his services and bring in the impressive Frey, who is rated at over £10 million.
The French custodian, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona, has a contract at the Ennio Tardini until 2006 and has indicated he would relish a move to the Olympic Stadium.
"It is true, and I am very pleased," Frey told L'Equipe. "I still have four years of contract at Parma. I feel very well, I am working, and I really feel improving. I have the club and officials trust that asked me to invest my-self a little more inside the life of the group.
"Everything is going off smoothly. So for the moment, I believe it is too early to talk about those things."
Frey, 21, wants to establish himself as one of the best shot-stoppers on the globe and is acutely aware that may mean him joining one of the European big-guns.
"In Italy, I think I am considered as one of the greatest keepers, but I want to reach a new level too. I want to be more known on the European and world scene. To allow that, I must sign for a great club," added Frey.
Milan and Roma have been credited with an interest in Kahn should Bayern decide to sell the German international.
