HELLAS VERONA are targeting Paolo Cannavaro of Serie A rivals Parma, as they look to avoid the relegation battle this season.

It has been reported that the 19-year-old defender, whose brother Fabio is an Italian international, would like a loan move to Bentegodi Stadium where he hope to secure a place in Verona first team.

Parma coach Alberto Malesani would prefer to keep Paolo Cannavaro in Parma, but the young defender would like to make the transition to first team football.

Cannavaro would follow the in the footsteps of young striker Emilian Bonazzoli, who left Parma last week and played his first match in a Verona shirt last Sunday afternoon against Udinese.

Meanwhile Hellas coach Attilio Perotti has a lot of problems to solve, because of injuries to midfielder Leonardo Colucci, who is out the rest of the month.

Two more midfielders will are also absent for the clash against Lazio, with Marco Cassetti and Martino Melis still recovering from long-term injury.
