Iceland international eyes a new challenge in Serie A

Former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen is attracting interest from Chievo and Pescara after terminating his contract with AEK Athens. The 33-year-old striker broke his leg last October in the derby against Olympiakos but recovered to feature at the end of the season. Gudjohnsen had one more year to run on his contract but has opted to cancel it due to the financial plight of the club. The Serie A duo believe the former Barcelona striker can add his vast experience to their strike-forces, and his agent Magnus Agnar Magnusson has hinted a move to Italy would appeal to his client.

Terminated

"He has recently terminated his contract with AEK Athens and is awaiting his next move," he told tuttomercatoweb.com. "Are Chievo and Pescara interested in him? To date, I have not had any concrete offers, there have been rumours. "Italy is wonderful place and Serie A is an attractive championship - Eidur knows this and he would love to (play there)."
