Fiorentina defender happy in Italy

Alessandro Gamberini has scotched speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City and insists he is very happy at Fiorentina. Reports in Italy had suggested Roberto Mancini was interested in bringing the 28-year-old to Eastlands during the summer and that he had the defender watched during last weekend's 1-0 defeat by Roma. But Gamberini insists there has been no contact between himself and City and wants to remain in Serie A to concentrate on sealing his place in the Italy World Cup squad. He told Nuovo Corriere di Firenze: "I have a contract with Fiorentina until 2013 and I have no reason not to respect that. "I feel part of a project here and have no desire to leave. "Does Roberto Mancini want me at Manchester City? I don't know if that is true, but I have never considered any kind of offer before, and I am convinced that even if there was an approach for me in the future, I would have no problem turning it down." Earlier in the week Bamberini's agent Francesco Romano also spoke out to confirm his client had no plans to leave the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
