Argentine starlet could be set for Serie A switch

Argentine side San Lorenzo have admitted Sergio Bergessio could be on his way to Europe amid reports linking the striker with a move to Milan. The Rossoneri are desperate to bring in a new frontman this summer but have so far been frustrated in their pursuit of players such as Emmanuel Adebayor and Samuel Eto'o. They could now be set to turn their focus elsewhere with reports in Argentina suggesting that Bergessio has emerged as a top target. The 23-year-old had a brief, unsuccessful stint with Benfica last year before returning to his homeland. He has been in sensational form of late and scored two goals in a Copa Libertadores game against River Plate in May after San Lorenzo had gone 2-0 down and been reduced to nine men. According to Ole, Milan are yet to make an official approach but could decide to lodge a bid in the region of £12million. "There is no news to give you, except that Gonzalo's agent is currently in Europe," said San Lorenzo president Rafael Savino. It is understood that San Lorenzo would only be willing to part with Bergessio for a considerable fee.
