Europa League: Lyon, PSV Eindhoven and Torino claim victories

Mohamed Yattara scored a brace as Lyon claimed a comfortable 4-1 victory over Mlada Boleslav in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round match in the Czech Republic.

The 21-year-old Guinea striker handed the French visitors an early lead and netted his second just after the break as he sandwiched Maxime Gonalons' 36th-minute effort. That came minutes after Jasmin Scuk missed a penalty for the home side, shooting straight at goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Antonin Rosa did manage to pull one back for Boleslav midway through the second half, but Samuel Umtiti handed Lyon their fourth within a minute to complete their win.

Luuk de Jong's second-half goal made all the difference as PSV Eindhoven claimed a narrow 1-0 home win from their clash against Austrian outfit St Polten in Holland, in a match where Florian Jozefzoon saw red for the Dutch side at the end.

Italians Torino made it look easy with a 3-0 victory over Swedish side Brommapojkarna at the Grimsta IP, in a match which saw both sides reduced to 10 men.

Home captain Pontus Segerstrom was shown a straight red card for a foul on Guiseppe Vives just before the break and Marcelo Larrondo slotted home the resulting penalty before doubling his side's lead eight minutes after the break.

Paulo Barreto made it three as the match approached the hour mark, moments before Vines was given his marching orders for a foul on Dardan Rexhepi, who missed with his resulting penalty attempt.

Japan striker Shinji Okazaki handed Mainz a 1-0 win at home to Greek side Asteras Tripoli as the German club take a norrow lead into their second-leg clash.

Croatian side Hajduk Split, meanwhile, suffered a 4-2 defeat away to Shakhter Karagandy.

Astana - also of Kazakhstan - were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Sweden's AIK, while Azerbaijan outfit Neftchi and their Georgian opponents Chikhura Sachkhere played out a goalless draw, as did Ruch Chorzow and Esbjerg.

Elfsborg claimed a big 4-1 win against FH Hafnarfjordur, Club Brugge take a 3-0 lead into their second leg against Brondby, Omonia Nicosia were also 3-0 winners at home to Metalurg, while Shakhtyor were 5-2 victors from a seven-goal thriller away to Zulte-Waregem.

Young Boys edged a 1-0 win against Ermis Aradippou, Dinamo Moscow were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Hapoel Kiryat - the same result of the clash between FC Zarya Lugansk and Molde, while Dinamo Minsk take a narrow 1-0 lead into their second leg at CFR Cluj-Napoca.

Rio Ave claimed an all-important away goal from a 1-0 win at IFK Gothenburg, Karabukspor and Rosenborg played out a goalless stalemate, Petrolul Ploiesti's home clash with Plzen ended 1-1, Atromitos take a 2-1 away win into their second-leg tie against FK Sarajevo and RNK Split claimed a 2-0 win over Chornomorets.

Krasnodar were comfortable 5-1 winners at Diosgyor VTK as were Rijeka at Vikingur, whole Astra Giurgiu moved past Liberec 3-0 in their home clash, FC Zimbru won 2-1 at SV Grodig and Stjarnan edged Lech Poznan 1-0.

Premier League Hull had to settle for a goalless draw on their competitive European debut as Tom Huddlestone missed a penalty and a point-blank follow-up against Slovakia's AS Trencin in Zilina.

Scottish Premiership duo Aberdeen and St Johnstone, meanwhile, both suffered defeats.

The Dons went down 2-0 to Real Sociedad in San Sebastian, while Saints lost 2-1 to Spartak Trnava in Slovakia.
