Allegri calm in striker search

Milan boss happy to sign Lopez if Tevez does not arrive

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has insisted he will consider himself lucky if he recruits either Carlos Tevez or Maxi Lopez. Milan have agreed a deal with Catania to bring in Lopez, but he will only complete his move if Tevez does not arrive from Manchester City. Tevez's future has been the subject of intense speculation since before the transfer window even opened, following a well-documented fall from grace at the Etihad Stadium. He is desperate to leave and City are prepared to let him go for the right price, but the Rossoneri have so far only expressed an interest in taking him on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Great player

Time is now running out to finalise a switch before next Tuesday's deadline, but Allegri insists he is calm in the knowledge that Lopez will be signed if Tevez is not. "Lopez? We've evaluated a few things and he's a great player. If he wasn't then we wouldn't be considering him," Allegri told reporters. "I'm living through this period normally. I'm calm, the club are looking after things and we'll see how it ends up. The club know what they are doing. "If Tevez or Lopez arrives, I'll consider myself as lucky because the club will provide me with an important player."
