JUVENTUS general manager Luciano Moggi has jumped to the defence of Enzo Maresca after the midfielder was criticised for his extreme goal celebrations during the Turin derby which finished 2-2.

The former West Brom player snatched a late equaliser for Juve to salvage a point at the Delli Alpi and then mimicked the goal celebration of Torino forward Marco Ferrante, incensing the "home" fans.

However, Moggi (pictured) defended the player, informing the club's official website: "Contrary to what I've read, we have no intention of fining him."

"It is no big deal, he didn't mean to offend anyone. He saw Ferrante doing it and he wanted to see if he could do it as well."
