Cagliari striker Mauro Esposito admits he still harbours dreams of representing his country at the World Cup.
The Italian striker has enjoyed a fruitful campaign in Sardinia and has caught the eye of Azzurri chief Marcello Lippi.
Although Esposito has scored just four goals in Serie A action his all-round displays have reportedly alerted Internazionale, amongst others, to his potential.
Esposito remains convinced he can earn a call-up for Germany and is concentrating between now and the campaign's close on demonstrating his worth to Lippi.
''I'm really keen to play for the national team,'' he told Corriere dello Sport.
''I know Lippi has high esteem in me. I know I must deserve the call-up by how I play on the pitch.
''I need to play how he expects me to play for Cagliari.''
