Lionel Scaloni is still hankering after a return to The Premiership with West Ham.

The Argentina right back, who made one appearance for La Albiceleste at the World Cup, spent last season on loan at Upton Park and is hopeful of agreeing a permanent switch to the East End.

Doubts surrounded a possible deal earlier this summer, but Scaloni's wish may be facilitated by the financial uncertainty surrounding his Liga employers Deportivo La Coruna, with a £2 million deal reported to be in the offing.

"My future is not in Spain but in England," said Scaloni.

"I am happy with the experience I had in The Premiership and I want to return to play in the Uefa Cup with West Ham."

Scaloni made 17 appearances for The Hammers last season and started the side's dramatic FA Cup final defeat to Liverpool last May.
