Sampdoria coach Walter Novellino has suffered a double blow ahead of the side's Serie A clash against Udinese on Wednesday.

Novellino was already with Andrea Gasbarroni and Sergio Volpi for the game and the tactician is now without another two players.

Giulio Falcone and Angelo Palombo have joined the pair on the sidelines and will play no part at Stadio Friuli.

Falcone is to undertake operation to clean out his knee that will rule him out of action until after Christmas.

Palombo is also suffering from a knee injury, although scans have shown he does not require surgery.
