The 27-year-old has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Olympic Stadium and Udinese are keen on the German international as they face up to the possibility of losing South African striker Siyabonga Nomvete.
Sunderland, Lyon and Espanyol are all thought to be interested in the former Kaizer Chiefs ace and Udinese have identified Jancker as the perfect replacement.
"We are in talks with the Italians," supremo Karl Heinz Rummenigge told 'Bild'.
Jancker has a contract at Bayern until 2003 but have put an é¼8 million price tag on his head.
If Nomvete does leave the Italian club Jancker could be drafted in and the Udinese board will hope the powerhouse forward can have a similar impact to compatriot Oliver Bierhoff, who became a real hero with the Bianconeri.
Udinese have already completed the signing of midfielder Patrick Boneforti from Bastia and there could be more transfer dealings at the club before the season starts.
