Fiorentina have opened talks to bring Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Mohamed Sissoko to the Serie A club on loan until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old spent three years in Italy with Juventus before switching to the French capital in 2011, and had previously played for Liverpool, Valencia and Auxerre.
The Malian international has found playing time at a premium with Carlo Ancelotti's big spenders and is keen on a return to Italy.
Reports suggest that he will complete an initial loan deal for the second half of campaign which grants the Viola an option to buy him in the summer for a fee in the region of £3.2m.
Fiorentina's sporting director Daniele Prade confirmed the news on the club's official website. "We decided to sign a player with different characteristics to the ones we have in our present squad.
"We thought about signing him a while ago. Momo is a highly motivated player and we are happy to bring him in."
