Fiorentina are poised to sign defender Gonzalo Rodriguez from Villarreal after reaching an agreement with the Spanish club.
The Italian outfit made the announcement on their official website on Friday, with Villarreal also confirming the deal.
"Villarreal and Fiorentina have reached an agreement for the transfer of Argentine defender Gonzalo Rodriguez, who will play next season with the Italian club," reads a statement from the Viola.
Rodriguez, though, has yet to agree personal terms with Fiorentina.
The Argentine centre-back is the second Villarreal player to join the Florence-based outfit this summer, following the transfer of playmaker Borja Valero on a four-year contract.
"Midfielder Borja Valero has successfully passed the medical examination and signed his contract with the Tuscan club, so he is officially a Fiorentina player too," further read the statement.
