Malaga's Joaquin will be sidelined for three weeks after picking up an injury to his right thigh.

Thigh injury will keep winger out until after winter break

Malaga's Joaquin will be sidelined for three weeks after picking up an injury to his right thigh. The 30-year-old joined big-spending Malaga in the summer from Valencia on a three-year deal. He has made 11 appearances in the league this season and scored two goals. However, the winger, who missed his side's 3-1 win over Racing Santander on Monday, is unlikely to return to action until La Liga resumes after the winter break. A statement on the club's website: "According to tests carried out yesterday (Tuesday) he is suffering from an injury to the right thigh quadriceps and will be out for around three weeks."
