Veteran striker set for talks over future

Alessandro Del Piero is waiting for Juventus to make a decision on his future after making it clear that he would like to remain at the club. The veteran striker will be out of contract in the summer and speculation has been mounting steadily over whether or not he will continue playing. Del Piero, 36, recently admitted that he had yet to make his mind up, but his brother and agent now claims he wants to stay. And Stefano Del Piero hopes Juventus will take his years of long service into consideration by offering a new deal. "We waited for the transfer market to close because it was right to give Juventus the peace they needed to address other negotiations," the agent told Ansa. "But soon there will be meetings, when Juventus will say whether they want us to continue together. "Alessandro has decided he wants to play for another year so it depends on the club. "If Juventus don't wish to continue we will be very sorry."

Matri move

While Del Piero's time at the club could soon be coming to an end, one player just setting out on his Juve adventure is Alessandro Matri. A deal was agreed prior to Monday's deadline to bring in the 26-year-old on loan from Cagliari until the end of the season. Juve will then have the option to make the move permanent, having allowed youngster Lorenzo Ariaudo to head out in the opposite direction to Cagliari.
