Prandelli pleased with Toni

Luca Toni has come in for special praise from manager Cesar Prandelli.

Fiorentina continued their good start to the season with a 2-0 away win at Siena in the Tuscan derby.

They moved up to third place thanks to two goals from Luca Toni, which extended his lead at the top of the scorers chart with 11 goals in nine matches.

"We are really happy with Toni," said coach Cesare Prandelli.

"He's a really good guy who works very hard during the match. The team suffered a little, but each time we had possession we looked dangerous. We must continue to perform well and get results. My guys are working hard but we are only three months into the season and we must continue to do so," Prandelli added.

Marcello Lippi was at the game on Wednesday night but it didn't affect Toni's performance.

"Top scorer? The most important thing is that I'm scoring a lot and that Fiorentina win," Toni said.

"Lippi was in the stands? Surely he was there to follow not only me but also my other team-mates. I'm flattered by his presence, but I hope to continue scoring goals when the Italian coach isn't in the stands to see me," Toni went on to say.
