Angelo Di Livio could be set to end his six-year association with Fiorentina after talks over a new deal for the veteran reached an impasse.

The Italy international is something of a hero at Viola after sticking with the side despite their financial collapse and drop into the Italian lower leagues.

However, the 38-year-old made just six Serie A appearances last term as the club held onto their top flight status on the final day of the season - and is out of contract in the summer.

Di Livio was hoping to secure another playing contract despite his increasing age, although the Viola hierarchy are looking to move him into the coaching set-up at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Talks are believed to have been suspended to give both parties more time to contemplate their stances, after a similar scenario last season yielded an acceptable conclusion.
