Serie A round-up

Milan moved three points clear at the top of Serie A with a 2-1 win at Fiorentina.

Milan moved three points clear at the top of Serie A as they came from behind to beat Fiorentina 2-1 at the Artemio Franchi.

Andrei Shevchenko was the hero for Milan with a quick-fire second half brace to cancel out Enzo Maresca's first half opener.

Fiorentina dominated from the start and they were rewarded on 25 minutes when former Juventus man Enzo Maresca headed home from close-range to do his old side a favour in the title race.

Milan came out for the second half in determined fashion and drew level a minute after the restart with Shevchenko slotting home inside the six-yard box.

The Ukrainian hit-man gave Milan the lead on 55 minutes with a simple header after more poor defending from Fiorentina.

Fiorentina piled forward in search of an equaliser and they were guilty of missing several gilt-edged chances as Milan held on for all three points.

The win leaves Milan three points clear the top of the table, although Juventus can again draw level when they host Bologna on Sunday.

The defeat leaves Fiorentina anxiously staring over their shoulder in the battle against the drop.

Massimo Gobbi's last-gasp goal earned Cagliari a 1-1 draw at home to Reggina.

Giuseppe Colucci gave Reggina the lead on 36 minutes and things got worse for Cagliari on 56 minutes when Antonio Langella was sent off for two bookable offences within the space of a minute.

Reggina looked set to take all three points until Gobbi pounced in the final minute to earn the hosts a draw.
