Marek Hamsik and Edinson Cavani were both on the mark for Napoli
Napoli cemented their place in third spot with a 2-0 win over Palermo, while Roma's UEFA Champions League hopes are all but over.
Napoli put the pressure on their top four rivals with a comfortable win over Palermo at the San Paolo.
Edinson Cavani fired the home side in front from the penalty spot after 16 minutes and Marek Hamsik doubled the lead on 35 minutes after being sent clear by Goran Pandev
With just two games to go, Napoli are three points clear of their rivals and well-placed to qualify for the Champions League for the second time in a row.
Roma's hopes of qualifying for Europe's premier club competition are hanging by a thread following a goalless draw at Chievo
Luis Enrique's side trail Napoli by six points and Udinese, Inter Milan and Lazio by three points.
Chances were few and far between in difficult conditions and Roma now need their rivals to slip up to have any chance of finishing in the top four.
