Palermo were held at Atalanta while Chievo eased past fellow strugglers Torino.
Third placed Palermo consolidated their lofty Serie A place after coming from behind to draw at Atalanta.
Riccardo Zampagna opened the scoring, but Aimo Diana earned a share of the spoils just before the hour mark.
Chievo moved clear of the drop zone with a 3-0 win over fellow strugglers Torino.
The home side were in front very early on thanks to Erjon Bogdani's (pictured) opener after just two minutes.
His second at the midway point of the contest put Chievo in firm control of the six-pointer.
Any hopes Torino harboured of getting something out of the game ended when Matteo Brighi added a third.
