Palermo take Barzagli stance

Palermo are willing to sell Andrea Barzagli to Juventus at the end of the season.

Palermo have revealed they are willing to sell Andrea Barzagli to Juventus at the end of the season.

Despite relegation to Serie B, Juventus made a concerted effort to sign the Italy international before the close of the August transfer window.

Barzagli's current club were not prepared to countenance the defender's exit over the summer, nor will the stance be altered in the New Year.

But Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini admits he will flog Barzagli to Juventus once the current season is over.

"In the last hours before the transfer window ended, Juve asked us for Barzagli," Zamparini told Corriere dello Sport.

"But we had already decided to keep him for another year.

"So, we said the affair wouldn't be done. We will talk again next summer, not in January because Barzagli is more useful to us than to them.

"We can close the negotiation in June, obviously with certain conditions.

"We have to not forget the player has a deal with us until 2010."
