Palermo have reached an agreement with Sampdoria for midfielder Aimo Diana.
The 28-year-old, who missed out on a place in the Italy World Cup squad due to injury, is now on the brink of signing a three-year deal with the Sicilian outfit.
Palermo are preparing for UEFA Champions League football after the penalties handed out to Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina for their part in the Italian match-fixing scandal, and the signing of Diana will be key to strengthening their squad for the coming season.
As part of the deal defender Christian Terlizzi and midfielder Massimo Bonanni will become jointly owned by Samp, an arrangement that will go some way to cushioning the blow of losing the one time Juventus target Diana.
The versatile star has also played for Brescia, Parma and Reggina during his career, and will be hoping to write another successful chapter during his time with the ambitious Rosanero.
