Milan crash out of cup

Palermo have knocked Milan out of the Coppa Italia at the quarter final stages.

Palermo have knocked Milan out of the Coppa Italia after a 3-1 quarter final aggregate success, following a 3-0 second leg win.

Mariano Gonzalez gave the Sicilians the lead with a fine curling effort on 10 minutes before Andrea Caracciolo doubled the Palermo's advantage eight minutes later.

The home side capped their passage to the semi-finals with a second goal from Gonzalez (pictured) five minutes after the break.

The result is sure to add more pressure on Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti, with Milan 12 points adrift of Serie A leaders Juventus in the Italy's top flight.

Palermo's win was a dream managerial debut for former Lazio boss Giuseppe Papadopulo, who was unveiled as Luigi Delneri's successor at La Favorita on Monday.
