Ajax keeper Bogdan Lobont has emerged as a transfer target for Italian side Palermo.

The Romanian is no longer a regular starter at The Amsterdam Arena, with Maarten Stekelenburg ahead of him in the pecking order.

With manager Danny Blind prepared to let Lobont move on, the keeper's agent has been actively seeking his client a new home.

Palermo were alerted to his availability and reports are claiming a deal could be struck in the near future.

Palermo had been thought to be interested in Colombian keeper Faryd Mondragon, but were put off by Galatasaray's reported ‚é¼3 million asking price and have now set their sights on Lobont.
