Palermo close on Chevanton

Just days after appearing to give up on the chase for Lecce's Ernesto Javier Chevanton, Palermo are close to striking a deal for the striker.

The Serie A new boys stated the ‚é¼10 million price tag for the Uruguayan was beyond their reach, but a compromise in the negotiations appears to have been found.

The Sicilian outfit's president Maurizio Zamparini has reportedly tabled an ‚é¼8 million offer for Chevanton with Lecce also gaining joint-ownership of Argentinian Mario Alberto Santana.

It is believed Palermo would hand the South American a four-year deal that would net the in-demand star a whopping ‚é¼5 million in the process.

Meanwhile, Chevanton is still in the dark over the latest developments and is due to return to Lecce to thrash out his future with the Italian outfit.

"My agent Paco Casal and Lecce haven't called me yet, I know nothing about my future," he said to Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I'm coming back to Lecce, this way I can check the situation."
